A body has been found in a muddy creek bed in Sydney's south-west and is believed to be that of missing Fairfield teenager Merna Kasha, who was last seen on April 28.
The creek, which is lined by dense bush, was cordoned off by police as forensic examinations were carried out.Authorities believe she made contact with her family a few days later, but has not been seen or heard from since.
"Police recovered the body of a woman from a creek in Sydney’s west at the weekend," NSW police said in a statement. "The body is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be that of a woman reported missing from the Fairfield area." A post-mortem examination is now underway to determine the woman's identity and the cause of her death.Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 as inquires continue.
