New bombshell evidence from the former chief of staff to John Barilaro may be the death knell for the New South Wales government’s 12-year reign, Sky News host Chris Smith says.
Mark Connell made the damning claim in a letter to state parliament’s Public Accountability Committee, indicating the New York trade position was created exclusively for the former NSW deputy premier.
“Now John Barilaro was quick to deny the allegations today, demanding to be immediately called to give his own evidence,” Mr Smith said. “This appointment has had a stench about it from the get-go, though … you can’t have the creator of a new international job become the first appointed person for that job.
“No matter which way this goes from here … the damage has been done – with just eight months to go before a NSW poll, this may be the death knell for the Coalition government’s 12-year reign.”
