The brakes of a bus that crashed in Brisbane's CBD were tested last month, and its driver had a 'strong performance record' over a decades-long career, according to the city's council.
The family of an 18-year-old woman killed when she was hit by bus that pinned her against a Brisbane CBD building says she was "tragically stolen" from them.
"As a valued member of The Brisbane Club team, we know the loss is being felt by many and we are coming together to support staff and members at this time."At a press conference earlier today, the Brisbane City Council said the bus' brakes were tested last month and the driver had a "strong performance record" over a decades-long career.
Brisbane Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said footage from traffic cameras and the bus itself had been gathered.Asked how the driver was, Mr Schrinner said he was "doing as you would expect".Mr Schinner said it was unhelpful to speculate on what caused the crash. He said it was a tragedy which could have happened to anybody.
"I am ensured that every support is being offered to all those impacted and I'm advised that the forensic crash unit is undertaking a very thorough investigation," Ms Grace said.
