While receiving his full $225,000 annual salary, suspended Mayor Troy Thompson continues to cause headaches for Townsville councillors via social media .

This month the politician, who is under investigation by the Crime and Corruption Commission Queensland , took to Facebook demanding the council be dissolved or placed into administration and called staff "unmotivated". This month Cr Thompson called for the Townsville City Council to be put into administration, alleging poor decision-making by operational staff was to blame for rate rises.

"New employees are being told to slow down, I'd like to see more maintenance and KPIs in place," he wrote. Queensland's local government minister says she had no choice but to agree to suspend Troy Thompson for 12 months on his full salary amid an investigation into claims about his military history.
