Longstanding weatherman Paul Burt was sacked from Channel Seven after research found he was one of the most unpopular presenters on air in Queensland, a senior source at the network has said.
A senior insider at Channel Seven has revealed the network's reason for sacking longstanding weatherman Paul Burt from the network after nearly 30 years in TV.
Speaking to Daily Mail Australia on Tuesday, an insider at Seven said the ex-Queensland presenter was sacked as part of a slew of redundancies due to research that showed he was unpopular with viewers. Burt took aim at the research used to cut 150 jobs from Seven's bureaus Australia wide, and argued the network needed a new approach to handling turnover.
Among the colleagues who were sorry for the veteran presenter’s sudden axing was Channel Seven newsreader Sharyn Ghidella, who was sacked from the network two weeks ago.“All the best, Burty for what lies ahead. You are so good at what you do…I’m sure there are many exciting adventures ahead for you. Good luck, not that you’ll need it, at all. Bet the offers are already rolling in. Xx,” Ghidella wrote to Burt in the comments section of his recent Instagram post.
