JUST IN: Commuters have been warned to avoid two of Melbourne’s busiest streets after a tram derailed just before peak hour, sparking chaos.
Yarra Trams tweeted to confirm the accident would affect several routes including 12, 109, 48 and 11. They will be diverted via Flinders Street and LaTrobe Streets.“Collins Street is closed in both directions between Queen and William streets, due to a collision which has caused a tram to come off the tracks,” Vic Traffic said.
“Emergency services are at the Queen Street intersection. Avoid the area using Flinders Street or William Street.”
