Launceston City Council has asked councillor Danny Gibson to repay almost $14,000 in legal and public relations fees incurred when his working with vulnerable people registration was under review.

Cr Gibson is facing allegations that he groomed, harassed and indecently assaulted young adults in the northern Tasmanian theatre scene., with a Department of Justice registrar finding on the balance of probabilities that he posed an "unacceptable risk of harm to vulnerable persons", including children.

When the ABC asked Mr Johnson what the differing advice was, he said he would not be providing any further comment on the matter at this time because in his view "the details of the correspondence was private".Cr Gibson has previously described media reports about him as "a coordinated campaign of character assassination".
