An Illawarra MP says health officials are seeing the number of COVID cases 'suddenly explode' after reaching the same case numbers the Illawarra is recording now.
The Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District has recorded 13 cases of COVID in the last 24 hours — its highest daily tally.There were seven cases in Shellharbour and six in Wollongong, three remain under investigationIt comes on a day when the state also records its highest rate with 1,218 community-acquired coronavirus cases.
As at 1:00pm on Saturday August 28, there were six local COVID-19 patients in hospital in the local health district.Keira MP and Shadow Health Minister Ryan Park says the rising number is challenging."You have got to be honest here. We are at a very, very difficult period." Mr Park says that in some areas across the state health officials are seeing the number of COVID cases "suddenly explode" after reaching the same case numbers the Illawarra is recording now.
"We are urging the community now that if they are experiencing any of those symptoms, which we now well now, please go and get tested," Mr Park said.
