NSW's social-distancing shutdown will remain unchanged for the foreseeable future, despite just two new coronavirus infections being recorded yesterday and some other states relaxing their laws.

The NSW chief health officer said high levels of testing would accelerate the decision to ease restrictionsYesterday, authorities in Queensland and WA announced COVID-19 restrictions in their states would be eased.

However, Ms Berejiklian today said some aspects of NSW's social-distancing shutdown were already more relaxed than other states. "Yes we want to ease restrictions, yes we want people to have a greater sense of normality in their lives, but that comes with obvious consequences," she said. "Once people ease back into normal active life, and I'm not going to suggest we are going to go back to what we were until the vaccine is found, the number of cases will go up.There were just two new COVID-19 infections in NSW in the 24 hours to 8:00pm yesterday, taking the state's total to 3,004.About 4,400 people were tested for the virus in NSW yesterday.
