Instead the driver used a neighbour's shower to wash hair dye out in the minutes following the crash. 9News

Counsel Assisting the Coroner Kelvin Currie suggested the white ute had actually been about 1.4 kilometres ahead when it pulled out, but Ms Holden insisted it "was right in front" of her."He was on one wheel and when I seen the wheel, I tried to move over but it was too late," she said. After the crash Ms Holden went into a neighbour's home to wash hair dye out of her hair.

Another witness, Samuel Gorham, told the court when he came outside after hearing a bang, it was light enough for him to make out a sticker on the mangled bike reading "Xavier". The conduct of the police officers investigating the crash is expected to come under the microscope tomorrow when the inquest continues.

Counsel Assisting told the court the initial statements surrounding the crash seemed to take an "inordinate amount of time" and Ms Holden wasn't interviewed until five weeks after the incident. The matter was only brought to inquest after Xavier's family pointed out he couldn't have been at fault as the driver had crossed double white lines.
