“F*** Gucci , Im wearing Tom Ford LOL,' rapper 50 Cent commented after tweeting Ford's fake quote.

American fashion designer Tom Ford was trending on Twitter Tuesday—for a demeaning comment he never uttered about first lady Melania Trump.

Twitter blew up over Ford’s alleged comment, but no evidence has been found that the designer actually said that about Trump. What many Twitter users found were Ford’s comments on Trump on ABC’s The View in 2016, that were much different. Ford was asked if Trump would look great in his clothes. A publicist for Ford, Simon Halls, told Newsweek in an email Tuesday afternoon: “This is an absolutely fabricated and completely fake quote attribute to Mr. Ford that has somehow gone viral. Mr. Ford did not make this statement."

“I challenge the press to devote as much time to the lives lost and the potential lives that could be saved, by dedicating the same amount of coverage that you do to idle gossip or trivial stories," the first lady said.
