Barcelona’s famous La Sagrada Familia is one step closer to completion after the fourth tower was finished.

The world-renowned tourist attraction is famously unfinished, despite building beginning 141 years ago in 1882.

Scaffolding on the Sagrada Familia – which is the largest unfinished Catholic church in the world – will now be taken down.It was designed and spearheaded by famous architect Antoni Gaudi, who devoted the latter part of his life to the Sagrada Familia and is buried in the church’s crypt.The final and tallest tower, which is dedicated to Jesus, is now the main focus of efforts to finish the church.

Picture: Getty Images There are still several challenges remaining for the engineers, architects and builders working on the church.A theological commission which is studying the Sagrada Familia archive has been given the task of reimagining the main façade.There has also been significant controversy around the church’s entrance, with the Sagrada Familia foundation wanting to make a hefty avenue with a stairway and a ramp.
