Fresh blows for WA sport as Perth Glory player tests positive for COVID and Perth BBL matches scrapped amid hard border
Professional sport in WA has been rocked on two fronts, with a Perth Glory player testing positive for COVID-19 and the Perth Scorchers losing all of their remaining home games. It is not known if Saturday's match against the Brisbane Roar will proceedIn a short statement issued just before midday, the Glory confirmed the news.
The club had been expecting to operate out of a hub in New South Wales in January, meaning they would play 13 straight away games. , because Cricket Australia and the WA government could not agree on quarantine arrangements that both sides were happy with.In a statement, the Big Bash League said it had to make the decision to move the upcoming games because from Saturday, both New South Wales and Victoria will be classified 'extreme risk' by WA.
"Unfortunately, the border restrictions and the League's inability to change fixtures has meant we have had to relocate our home matches to continue our season."
