“Our operation is different in that we take cages down to the ocean floor and it’s really wonderful down there. It’s really intimate and the sharks are more at home,” Mr Fox said.
Mr Fox, a conservationist and photographer, said Rodney Fox Shark Expeditions is the only tour in the world that runs ocean floor cage diving. Mr Fox inherited his passion for sharks from his father, Rodney Fox, who was famously savaged by a great white in South Australia during a spear fishing competition in 1963.
It comes as research from Flinders University found that wildlife tourism - like cage diving at the Neptune Islands – can potentially make participants “enthusiastic wildlife ambassadors”.
