Harvey Norman in Albury is recovering after struggling with a severe drop in customer flow amid the VIC-NSW border closure and is hopeful borders will be opened soon. Harvey Norman, like many stores in the border towns, suffered a dramatic decrease in customers as an effect of the NSW-Victoria border closures. Harvey Norman Furniture Proprietor Rohan Matthews said “when first kicked in, you’d go from seeing hundreds of people a day, to maybe two or three.
” Usually, 60 per cent of the store’s customers cross from Victoria until that travel was off the cards. Harvey Norman Electrical Proprietor Simon Moir said online sales also dropped when there wasn’t the option of trying before buying. Mr Moir added the store struggled at time to secure adequate stock, with supply chains under strain. “The stock restraints have been very hard,” he said. “Not bad at the moment, we’re stocked up reasonably well.
