The Australian Workers’ Union members voted to condemn the minister’s section 10 ban on the gold mine on Tuesday, accusing the minister of a lack of transparency over the decision which was made using Indigenous heritage legislation. “When 600 livelihoods are on the line, the least the government can do is be transparent. AWU members and the entire mining community deserve better than decisions made in the dark,” he said.
The project was derailed after Ms Plibersek intervened to protect “significant Aboriginal heritage area”. Picture: Supplied “If we just let every mining company do exactly what they want to do in the cheapest possible way for their project, imagine what our environment would be like."
