Friends and colleagues are mourning a Melbourne nurse who was tragically killed when the car she was riding in wasMary Ellen Molloy was sitting in the back seat of a moving sedan when the eucalyptus tree branch fell onto the car in Kings Way, South Melbourne about 9pm on Friday.A friend sitting beside her in the back seat was also injured, while another friend and the male driver escaped injury.
Ms Molloy was rushed to hospital after the accident but died. Her friend, a 25-year-old St Kilda woman, suffered head and back injuries but is in a stable condition in the Royal Melbourne Hospital. "When they’re excessively sweating or releasing the water out of their systems, they're also being drained of all their good nutrients, and it is a problem ... a branch can weaken or fail."
Mid-July: 64-year-old man crushed to death by a tree on a farm property in Yarrawalla, 233km north of Melbourne.August 9: Angie Suryadi, a mother of two, was killed after a tree fell on her car on the Black Spur highway in Fernshaw as her family embarked on a snow trip.
