PwC’s boss wants more organisations to take advantage of the consulting firm’s expertise at taking talented university graduates and turning them into in-demand skilled workers.
PwC chief executive Tom Seymour says employers need to look at measures beyond increasing the migration intake to alleviate the worker shortages being faced across the economy.
“So as much as there’s a skill shortage ... we’re still getting really high-quality grads out of unis. Whereas if you go to hire [a person with] five years of experience, it’s almost impossible.”Mr Seymour, KPMG chairman Alison Kitchen and Accenture have been invited to the summit; EY and Deloitte representatives are not attending.
The Morrison government capped Australia’s total migration intake at 160,000 a year before COVID-19 struck, and migration fell into net negative territory during the pandemic.
