Australia's Health Minister says Australia will not follow the Netherlands by reintroducing state-wide lockdowns to combat the Omicron variant of COVID-19.
Greg Hunt’s comments come as the Netherlands was plunged back into lockdown to stem the spread of the Omicron variant.
“So their circumstances are quite different to Australia, as well as the fact that they are going into a cold European winter… So, a different country, different circumstances.” Mr Hunt said the exceptional vaccination rate would allow residents to continue life without the hindrance of repeated lockdowns.
“But each country will make their judgement on their own circumstances. So we don't see that that's a likely situation in Australia.
