The International Boxing Association (IBA) has attempted to clarify the details surrounding gender eligibility testing conducted on two female athletes caught in controversy at the Paris Olympic Games.

The International Boxing Association has doubled down on its decision to disqualify two female boxers and released a document of gender testing"facts" that the IOC has accused of being"flawed".The International Boxing Association has attempted to clarify the details surrounding gender eligibility testing conducted on two female athletes caught in controversy at the Paris Olympic Games .

The association held a shambolic press conference on Monday as it attempted to address the reasoning surrounding why they were banned from competition. A blood sample was collected on May 17, 2022, and taken to Turkey's Sistem Tip Laboratory after Lin won gold and Khelif won silver in respective weight categories.

The next event was held in New Delhi, India, in March 2023 where both Khelif and Lin agreed to another blood test, with the sample taken to Dr Lal PathLabs. "Boxers will compete against boxers of the same gender, meaning Women vs Women and Men vs Men as per the definitions of these Rules," it stated. The association claimed to have reached out to the 25-year-old to resolve the dispute, with Khelif providing"a number of medical documents".One page stated a male's punch is 2.6 times more powerful than a female's hit.

Khelif and Lin have separately reiterated they were born female and have competed as women for years, with the IOC pointing to the pair's sex on their passport. IBA sent a letter to the IOC addressing its safety concerns for other competitors and referenced Khelif and Chinese Taipei boxer Lin Yu-ting's tests. Picture: Richard Pelham/Getty Images

"We did receive a letter... the method of the testing, the idea of the testing, which happened overnight , none of it was legitimate. These are severe attacks on the rights of the women involved," Mr Adams told reporters at a briefing in Paris on Sunday. The IOC has claimed both Khelif and Lin were unfairly targeted.
