A temporary repair to the Ollera Creek Bridge opened to allow essential supplies into Ingham, the epicenter of a flood disaster cut off by road for almost two weeks. However, the region remains vulnerable to flash flooding with heavy rainfall expected.
, while thousands remain without power and more have been unable to return to their homes after evacuating more than a week ago.
The bridge, which forms part of the state's main arterial, the Bruce Highway, was washed away by heavy rain on February 2. Isolated 24-hourly rainfall totals up to 250mm are possible, especially over the Cassowary and Townsville coasts.
