An Australian who contracted monkeypox overseas speaks out on social media as a warning for people not to treat the disease lightly, saying it caused them severe pain and emotional stress.
So far, about 90 cases have been detected in Australia, mostly in NSW and Victoria.
More than 3,000 cases have been reported in Germany; according to the American Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.The lesions look like the blisters associated with chickenpox, but larger.Boles posted regularly on Instagram while in quarantine, warning of the risks of transmission of monkeypox."It is real and it is very painful, so just be very careful," Boles said.
"I know, it sucks — it's an amazing activity — but just for now — you can have it again in a few weeks — but just don't do it now," Boles said.
