The man whose shooting by police kicked off a fresh wave of race riots in the United States attends a court hearing via video link from his hospital bed.
His attorneys say the teenager — who was patrolling the streets with a rifle along with a number of other— was acting in self-defence.
Four officers from a US Marshals task force opened fire on suspected killer Michael Reinoehl, who was reportedly armed. Mr Reinoehl then got out of the car and started running away but collapsed amid more gunfire, the witness, Deshirlynn Chatman, told The Olympian newspaper.
