More than 20 of the largest and most active branches of the NSW Nationals have unanimously backed Deputy Premier John Barilaro's leadership in the wake of a damaging Coalition rift.
Mr Barilaro threatened to take his MPs to the crossbench, and plunge the Berejiklian government into minority, over the policy which was designed to protect koala habitat. Mr Watts' letter was also critical of Port Macquarie MP Leslie Williams, who has defected to the Liberals, and former leader Troy Grant and former deputy leader Niall Blair who have also quit the Nationals.
