Judge urges Victorian Building Authority to mandate child safety screens on all septic tank s following tragic drowning of three-year-old boy in Victoria
Nihal and his family were at the Wallan property for a housewarming when the toddler vanished while playing out the front of the house. When Nihal’s mum Amanpreet Kaur pulled the child out she spotted her son floating face down in the septic tank. Coroner Sarah Gebert found the lid of the septic tank was not fixed in place with screws, despite there being holes in the lid for this purpose. The lid was also light and easily moved – making it easy for Nihal to accidentally dislodge it, despite his small size.
