Police have refused to answer one crucial question everyone is asking in the wake of the Hillcrest Primary School tragedy.

The five children in years five and six were killed when a sudden gust of wind picked up a jumping castle at Hillcrest Primary School in Devonport, Tasmania at around 10am on Thursday morning.

Three children remain in hospital in a critical condition on Friday, with one now recovering at home after being discharged. Earlier this morning, a member of Lifeline was pictured consoling a distraught member of the public outside Hillcrest Primary School, where locals have left piles of flowers, toys and heartbreaking notes paying tribute to the young victims.

But he repeatedly sidestepped the question during a Friday morning press conference, along with questions related to zorb balls which were also reportedly launched into the air along with the bouncy castle. “But my understanding is that the zorb balls were outside. But it will form part of the investigation,” he said, before being asked by yet another journalist whether all the victims were inside the castle at the same time.“It is fair to say that those injured were inside the castle. We need to piece the movements of the individuals together so we can present a full picture to the coroner.”
