Armed with a set of scales and an undying hunger for carbohydrates, Melbourne man Brandon Gatgen is attempting to answer fast food's most enduring riddle.🍟
The clubhouse leader so far is Hobsons Bay Fish and Chip Shop in Williamstown. For $4, Brandon was served 688 grams of golden fried potato.
"I had a bit of a theory that it might be related to who owned the fish and chip shop, the socio-economic area," says Brandon.Different batches of chips being tested.joined Brandon recently for lunch at a fish and chip shop in Kensington. After carrying our butcher's papered bounty to a nearby park, Brandon checked his set of scales and found a discrepancy between the parcels.Brandon Gatgens is measuring minimum chips at takeaway shops across Melbourne, for science of course.Brandon thinks his investigation has struck a chord because fish and chip shops hold a significant place in people's memories.
"You go to any town, doesn't matter how far away from the coast that is, you've got the local pizza place and the local fish and chip shop."
