Shadow Education Minister Sarah Henderson says strong Labor seats all said no to the Voice because ministers of the Albanese government are “only listening to the elites” rather than to ordinary Australians.
The Indigenous Voice was emphatically rejected by a majority of voters in every state and territory except the Australian Capital Territory at the referendum last weekend.
“Rather than the government listening to the activists, to the inner-city elites, and to the big corporations, it is time the government listened to ordinary Australians,” Ms Henderson told Sky News Australia.“Strong Labor seats … all said no because these Labor members, these Labor ministers, are only listening to the elites, they’re only listening to the activists and not to ordinary Australians, including ordinary Indigenous Australians.
