Labor has summoned business and industry leaders to witness its formal pledge to reduce emissions by 43 per cent over 2005 levels to 2030.
The federal Labor government has summoned business, industry and union leaders to Canberra to witness a ceremony in which it will formally pledge to the United Nations itsand Climate and Energy Minister Chris Bowen about the energy crisis gripping the eastern states, they will also be party to a signing ceremony scheduled to be held in Parliament House on Thursday.Alex Ellinghausen
Those invited include the Business Council of Australia, the Australia Industry Group, the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the ACTU.Throughout the election campaign, Mr Albanese repeatedly cited the endorsement of these groups for his “Powering Australia” energy policy. Labor is under pressure to increase the 43 per cent target from the Greens whose vote will be needed if it is to pass the Senate,
