The shadow indigenous affairs minister has welcomed Anthony Albanese's announcement on First Nations constitutional recognition but has called the government to unveil crucial details.

Speaking at the opening of the four-day cultural event, Mr Albanese unveiled a proposed question for a referendum on constitutional recognition and three provisions to be embedded in Australia’s founding document.

Picture: PMO The Labor Government pushed the issue to the centre of its agenda when the Prime Minister declared on election night that there would be a referendum in his first term. The Prime Minister also unveiled the proposed wording for three sentences to be added into the constitution.The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice may make representations to parliament and the executive government on matters relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
