NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet will today visit flood-devastated Lismore in the state's north, as calls grow for more support on the ground.
During a visit to nearby Ballina yesterday the Premier admitted there could have been better coordination on the ground in response to the disaster with people waiting for days for help.Mr Perrottet said there were already over 600 personnel from the defence force and state fire agencies on the ground and he's seeking more Commonwealth support."There is no doubt that there should have been better coordination on the ground," Mr Perrottet said yesterday.
The Bureau of Meteorology said this had the potential to cause renewed river rises in areas already impacted by flooding. "The weather pattern changes a little bit for Sunday with a bit more instability around and it's looking like there will be some fairly widespread showers and storms through the afternoon for Sunday."Authorities yesterday confirmed a fifth person had died in flood-ravaged northern NSW.Police said the body of a man, believed to be in his 40s, was discovered near Terragon, south of Murwillumbah, about 2pm yesterday.
