A man who police allege was armed with a piece of wood and "combative" was shot and Tasered during an altercation with officers in Brisbane.
Officers were called to the property on Tamar Street in Annerley about 9.13am after residents found a 26-year-old they didn't know in their backyard.Planespotting footage appears to capture start of devastating fireThe man allegedly lunged at a 40-year-old senior constable's handgun and, during a struggle, shot the officer in the thigh.Police allege the man was still being combative and a Taser was deployed to subdue him while other officers restrained him.
"I thank all police for the great work they do each day. Particularly those officers involved today and those who assisted their colleagues," he said. "I would particularly like to thank the first year constable and other officers who attended for their actions in providing critical first aid to the seriously injured officer while responding on an ongoing threat."
The matter is under investigation by the Ethical Standards Command with oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
