Police have made a major breakthrough in the 1998 cold case murder of 13-year-old Arthur Haines who died in a Sydney house fire.

WARNING: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander readers are advised this story contains images of a person who is deceased.

The teen became trapped inside a bedroom on the top-floor of the burning home before managing to climb through a fire escape. The figure increased to one million dollars in June this year in the hope of bringing closure to Arthur's heartbroken mother Julie Szabo.“All this time, it’s been heartache. Every day when I wake up and, until I go to bed, I never [stop] thinking about my son; what he would have been, how he would have been and what he would have become,” she said.
