The incident unfolded after police were called to reports of torches being shone into cars on Arthur Street in South Yarra about 4.15am.
Officers arrived in the street to find two men in an allegedly stolen black Nissan ute, according to police.Police then tried to block the ute to stop the men from fleeing, before the driver allegedly rammed two police cars. When police then tried to arrest the two men, one allegedly pulled out a screw driver and tried to stab the police officers with it.A 30-year-old Sunbury man was taken to hospital under police guard with minor injuries.Anyone who witnessed the incident, with CCTV or dashcam footage or information, is urged to contact police.Two police cars were rammed during an arrest in South Yarra."I am late for work. I came down and turned out my car had been broken into.
