Victoria has recorded 1608 new coronavirus cases and two deaths, with many testing sites across Melbourne closed before 9am on Boxing Day after reaching capacity COVID19Vic

The Albert Park drive-through site was suspended by 6.45am, due to demand, ahead of its scheduled opening at 7am. By 7.30am, staff at The Alfred were telling people in its walk-in line that the waiting time was four hours. The Montague Street site in South Melbourne was closed by about 8.30am, likewise walk-in site on Bourke Street in the city.

Victoria has recorded 1608 new cases in the past day and two deaths. NSW on Sunday recorded 6394 new cases and no further deaths.after lines swelled and some centres reached capacity and closed on Christmas Day. Thousands of people also flocked to shopping centres for Boxing Day sales though numbers were lower than previous years. Cricket fans began their trek into the MCG for day one of the Boxing Day Test against England, officials are still expecting a crowd of 70,000 people or more.on the state government’s wesbite.
