Staff and students have been placed into quarantine at a school in Melbourne's west following a large rise in coronavirus infections. 9News

• Single new cases at Albanvale Primary School, Orygen Youth Health in Footscray and Villa Bambini in Essendon. All were close contacts.• A new outbreak has been linked to the Northern Hospital emergency department with two healthcare workers confirmed as positive cases. Contact tracing of staff and patients is underway. All emergency department staff will be tested as a precaution. The workers wore appropriate PPE during patient interactions on the shifts worked.

A student has also tested positive to coronavirus at school in Melbourne's north, a day after Victoria's Chief Health Officer revealed the return to classrooms for hotspot areas was being "reviewed". Mount Ridley P-12 College in Craigieburn will be closed from today for three days while deep cleaning is undertaken.In a letter to parents and staff, College Principal Lino Pagano said the Department of Health and Human Services had requested all students and staff to stay home while contact tracing occurs.

"We wish the student a speedy recovery and look forward to welcoming them back to school next term once they have recovered," he said.The officer, who works at Werribee police station in the city's west, tested positive on Wednesday.Police swarm Melbourne hotspot areas as the stage three lockdown commences.Six police officers he worked with have been told to self-isolate for two weeks.
