have again faced a chaotic commute after crews of nearly 40 trains refused to operate them in industrial action, and it's not over yet.

He said the union found that trains are "not serviced on a monthly basis as we thought they were" but are instead serviced every 60 days.Claassens said CCTV cameras were found to be not working inside the trains and emergency doors were broken. Claassens said the industrial action would continue into September if the parties couldn't reach a resolution over the intercity train fleet and workers pay deal.From August 7 until September 6, there has been a ban on transport officers issuing fines and cautions.If commuters decide not to tap on, police are still able to issue fines if they spot fare-dodging.

Earlier this month, cleaners were banned from using vacuum cleaners or scrubbing machines on August 12. The union has been concerned about crucial blind spots in surveillance on the new fleet due to it relying solely on monitoring from CCTV cameras mounted on the sides of the trains, which have no audio and restricted line of sight because of the design of the carriages.to fix the fleet but the union claims the government has not committed to this pledge.
