She said the situation needs to be investigated as Senator Thorpe has"essentially breached" the oath of allegiance. Victorian Senator Jane Hume was frustrated about the behaviour of Senator Thorpe, lashing her for using her platform as a politician for"selfish" reasons. "Being a Senator is an enormous privilege. You have a platform on which you can debate genuine policy and genuine political positions. Instead she's chosen to use it as a protest-y thing that's a terrible waste."
"If she's not going to use the position appropriately she should resign but can anybody make her? No," she said.Opposition Leader Peter Dutton a day earlier also called for Senator Thorpe to resign in the wake of the"disrespectful" incident.
