Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has reassured the state that the hospital system can cope with the influx of COVID-19 cases as Queensland recorded 784 new cases on Monday.compared with Christmas Day.

On Saturday, 90.4 per cent of Queensland’s population had received the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccination, while 85.9 per cent were fully vaccinated.Once the state hits the 90 per cent double-dose rate, there would be no requirements or restrictions for travelling into Queensland. On Monday, Ms Palaszczuk said there were four people in hospital currently, including an 85-year-old man, with COVID-19-related symptoms.

Ms Palaszczuk said the number of testing clinics would be increased in the next 24 to 48 hours in Metro North, Metro South, the Gold Coast and Cairns. “We can see that when you get that boost, the antibody levels rise dramatically and immunity is greatly enhanced with a third dose,” he said.
