With an interest in sustainable innovation, he hopes to study a bachelor of science and advanced studies at the University of Sydney next year.The 75,000 Year 12 students who sat the 2019 HSC were up early on Tuesday morning to receive their results: first their course marks at 6am, then, if eligible, their ATAR ranks in the early afternoon.

That was the route taken by Liam Birrer, 18, who missed his metal and engineering exam to fight fires in the Port Macquarie region as an RFS volunteer.
