There are 521 people in hospital with the virus, up from 458 yesterday, with 55 of those in intensive care.It comes as isolation requirements could be eased for healthcare workers in the state. Up to 2000 health workers are currently unable to work and are self-isolating, as the health system continues to grapple with thousands of COVID-19 cases a day.The majority of people in intensive care are not vaccinated, NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard said.

Renewed restrictions have come into force across the state today, with QR codes returning for hospitality and retail check-ins.Meanwhile, thousands of people are on tenterhooks after"As soon we became aware of the issue this morning, SydPath immediately commenced a process to contact impacted people," the company said in a statement.
