Speaking at a press conference at Kirribilli House this morning, Prime Minister Scott Morrison urged all residents to "take great care and follow the advice and warnings that have been provided and to stay safe and to exercise appropriate judgement."Credit:The PM offered assurances that "the nationally coordinated effort and the specific state efforts which are leading the response in each of their jurisdictions has been incredibly professionally deployed.
By 9am, PM2.5 fine particle readings had reached "very poor" to "hazardous" levels in parts of Sydney's north-west and south-west. The worst readings, between 200 and 350 on the air quality index, have so far been recorded at Richmond, St Marys, Rouse Hill, Bringelly and Bargo.
