New South Wales recorded its highest ever daily coronavirus cases on Thursday as hospitalisations grew amid the Newcastle outbreak while Victoria reported an increase in deaths as well as cases.
NSW Health announced a further 1,742 infections were detected, up by almost 400 from the previous day, and the largest caseload since the beginning of the pandemic.
Hospitalisations increased by 26 to sit at 192 while intensive care admissions rose by two to 26.The latest results came from a massive jump in testing numbers to 143,938 swabs.In the 24-hour reporting period to 8pm last night:- 93.3% of people aged 16+ have had two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine
