New South Wale Police Commissioner Mick Fuller has apologised to an indigenous teenager following a heavy-handed arrest in Sydney.

The 17 year old allegedly threatened the police officer before being taken down to the ground at Surry Hills on Monday.

The teen was treated in hospital after complaining of soreness to the face and knee, but has been released. One of the officers involved has been placed on restricted duties.
