Acting Commissioner David Hudson confirmed police were going to block a pro-Palestine protest planned for Sunday. Those behind the planned rally say they are seeking legal advice.

NSW Police have rejected an application for an authorised pro-Palestine protest in Sydney this weekend following antisemitic chanting at the Opera House protest on Monday.

“It’s also avoiding the real problem here, which is that the premier and the police commissioner simply do not want us to protest,” he said.“These are our friends, our families, our loved ones, our colleagues. We have the right to grieve. I think it’s deeply inappropriate for the premier and the government to suggest that Palestinians do not have that right.

“We can’t stop a thousand people meeting in one spot, it depends on their behaviour once they get there. If that becomes an unauthorised protest, we will take action.”
