NRL: Melbourne captain Harry Grant has taken his player option and will remain at the Storm through until 2026.
The Melbourne Storm aren’t guaranteed to lose fullback Ryan Papenhuyzen, but it at least sounds like it could be a possibility.Danny Weidler, who reported on Sunday that the Storm are resigned to the fact Papenhuyzen will test himself on the open market.
That though will likely fall well short of what other teams could offer, with Weidler mentioning the Dragons and Eels as two clear candidates who would express interest in Papenhuyzen, while he also mentioned the Bulldogs as an outside chance to keep an eye on.Papenhuyzen said he wanted to stay in Melbourne but also seemed aware of the fact he may have no choice but to explore his options.
Elsewhere, the drama between the St George Illawarra Dragons and Ben Hunt looks like it isn’t going to end anytime soon. But it is quickly becoming clear that Hunt doesn’t even want to play out the remaining year of his contract at the Dragons, with the halfback angling for an early release.reported on Sunday that Hunt has told those close to him that he doesn’t want to return to the club for pre-season training.
