A group of Perth artists have replaced plaques on statues in the CBD with new signs highlighting the historical figures' involvement in an Aboriginal massacre in a bid to 'rewrite history' | MartaPascual3

Over the weekend, the collective replaced the plaques underneath the statues of Western Australia's first governor Captain James Stirling and first surveyor-general John Septimus Roe to highlight their links to the Pinjarra massacre.

A spokesperson for The Statue Review said the rewritten plaques highlighted the absurdity of white Australia, which followed the philosophy of "if you can't see the problem it doesn't exist". The collective also urged candidates in the upcoming City of Perth elections to take a stand on the relocation of the statues to a museum.
