Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says Opposition Leader Peter Dutton was “upping the ante” on closing the border to Indonesia due to its foot and mouth disease outbreak.
The Albanese government has resisted calls to close Australia’s border to Indonesia and has instead introduced tough new biosecurity measures to prevent the disease from entering the country.
“Peter Dutton’s call on the border sets the scene, should the disease come into Australia, for the government to be blamed,” Mr Clennell said.
