Col Blanch is appointed as Western Australia's next police commissioner and will take the helm next month when Chris Dawson departs his post to become the state's governor.
He has also led the police response to outlaw gangs in the wake ofDeputy Commissioner Blanch joined WA Police in 2018 as an assistant commissioner, before being promoted to his current position months later.
Prior to that he worked at the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission, where Commissioner Dawson was chief executive officer between 2014 and 2017.Commissioner Dawson has held the top job for five years after being appointed in August 2017.
