A 23-year-old man remains in a critical but stable condition at Townsville University Hospital after the incident on Lillipilli Street in Vincent on Tuesday. Queensland Police Union president Shane Prior said officers tried to de-escalate the situation before opening fire.ABC North Qld: Gabrielle Becerra Mellet"Officers negotiated the successful release of an elderly woman, and as they were trying to guide her safely down the steps, police will allege that the man lunged at the officer with a knife," Mr Prior said.
